Care Resources: compare care types and browse counties

A Union County care search might include assisted living in Westfield, nursing rehabilitation in Cranford and support at a relative’s own home. The right comparison starts with care needs and a sustainable payment plan. Use the category lists below, then request written answers from each provider before committing.

Explore: Assisted living · Nursing homes and rehabilitation · Home care · County support · Care and legal planning.

These are selected research starting points, not a complete directory, ranking or endorsement. Listings and provider website descriptions were reviewed November 1, 2026. Confirm current services, licensing, availability, costs and payment policies directly; inclusion does not establish Medicaid acceptance or suitability for an individual.

Compare the full monthly plan, not just a starting rate

For assisted living, request base charges, care-level fees and the circumstances that trigger increases. For a nursing stay, ask how a change from rehabilitation to long-term care would be handled. For care at home, add up all required shifts and ask how overtime, weekends and backup staffing are billed.

Assisted Living and Memory Care

  • Sunrise of Westfield — Westfield. Assisted living and memory care, with short-term stay information. Ask about assessment, care-level charges and retention criteria.

Nursing Homes, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation

Home Health and Personal Care Companies

  • Atlantic Visiting Nurse — Regional provider serving Union County. Clinical home health, including nursing and rehabilitation. Verify the proposed services, order requirements and coverage.
  • BrightStar Care of Westfield & Summit — Union County service area. In-home care and medical-staffing information. Ask which personal-care or nursing services are available for your particular needs.

County Support and Caregiver Resources

Union County Resources for Older Adults — Use the county directory to find additional public programs and support; recheck individual listings with the provider. You can also search the Aging Life Care Association directory for care-management professionals; ask about credentials, fees and referral relationships.

Check the Provider and Ask for Written Answers

Use New Jersey’s long-term care facility search to check the facility category and available inspection information. Use Medicare Care Compare for the relevant nursing-home or home-health provider type. For personal-care agencies, review New Jersey’s Health Care Service Firms resources.

  • Care fit: Can the provider handle the assessed mobility, medication, dementia and overnight needs?
  • Staffing and continuity: Who supervises care, responds after hours and covers absences?
  • Total cost: Request base charges, additional care fees, deposits and termination terms.
  • Payment changes: Ask what happens if care needs increase or private funds run low. Obtain the relevant policy in writing.

Care Costs, Medicaid and Authority to Act

Care selection and benefits planning are related but separate decisions. Medicare generally does not cover ongoing custodial long-term care; limited skilled or home-health coverage has its own conditions. A provider’s website does not determine eligibility or insurance authorization.

Connect care decisions with advance Medicaid planning, Medicaid crisis planning, or New Jersey Medicaid application representation. Existing powers of attorney and health care documents also deserve review when someone else will act.

Contact Willis Law Group to discuss the legal and financial questions in your care plan. Bring existing documents, the proposed care arrangement and any agency notices or deadlines. Ask our team how to provide confidential records. Clinical and placement decisions should involve the person, family and appropriate health professionals.
